We recommend: They’re known for some of the best Acai Bowls in the game, but we’d also like to praise their heavenly gluten free Buckwheat Pancakes!

Vagabond Byron Bay

The cafe boasts an array of fresh, nourishing options, from bullet-proof coffee to vibrant salads, bowls, and cakes. 

On Fridays, enhance your visit with fresh flowers from local growers, Flora and Daisie. Early birds can savour Vagabond’s own organic house blend coffee and relax in the charming outdoor space.

We recommend: Their completely vegan Caramel Slice, with a base of almond, coconut and dates.

We recommend: The Kimchi Bagel, made with fresh high quality toppings!

The Byron Bay General Store

The Byron Bay General Store, operating since 1947 in one of the region’s oldest buildings, is a true local gem. This historic venue, evolving from Greys Store to Macs Milk Bar, now serves as a vibrant cafe in Byron Bay. 

Perfect for any season, it offers dishes like truffled mushroom toast in winter and a refreshing seasonal fruit salad in warmer months. Embrace healthy dining with their breakfast bowl, featuring mixed grains, roasted veggies, and sprouted salad with sauerkraut. A visit here not only tantalises your taste buds but also connects you with Byron Bay’s rich history.

We recommend: On a sunny Byron day, we couldn’t recommend their Coconut Cold Brew any stronger. The coconut infused cold brew is made overnight and then finished with some dreamy sweet coconut cream.

We recommend: Their super satisfying Brekky Burger, perfect for some tired heads on a Sunday morning.

Bayleaf Cafe

Bayleaf, a cornerstone of Byron Bay’s cafe culture, is renowned for its delightful banana bread with candied pecans and an array of exceptional dishes. Partnering with Gold Coast’s Blackboard for ethically sourced coffee, Bayleaf offers a menu that includes favourites like sweet potato flatbread and scrambled eggs with feta. 

Their recent addition of a curated wine, beer, and cocktail menu, including a standout Bloody Mary, enhances the experience. Despite the potential wait for a table during peak times, the inviting interior and well-stocked shelves make it well worth the visit.

We recommend: The mouthwarering Korean Savoury Pancake

Highlights include their Vietnamese crispy pancake and the halloumi burger. Recognised as Byron Bay’s best coffee shop on Trip Advisor, Espressohead promises exceptional coffee alongside its delicious food.

We recommend: The Espressohead Iced Latte is on a completely different level, a must try when swinging through.

Sparrow Coffee Byron Bay

While primarily a grab-and-go venue, its welcoming staff and skilled baristas create a compelling reason to return. The cafe’s coastal charm is accentuated by wood-panelled exteriors and a vibrant turquoise coffee machine, adding a pop of colour to the compact space.

We recommend: Sparrow is the home of my favourite Iced Long Black in all of Byron Bay.

We recommend: The Spelt Scones will have you salivating!

We recommend: Enjoy the vitamin rich Eagle Eye cold pressed juice, packed with Carrot, Apple, Orange, Pineapple and Turmeric.
